“The Yoga of Horsemanship with Cathy Woods was truly an enjoyable and enlightening experience. Bridging the concepts of yoga with the wisdom and spirituality of the horse enables self-discovery and awareness. You don’t have to be an expert at either discipline to be able to take away new concepts and core benefits from this program. Both my husband and I truly enjoyed and learned from this experience.”

“Cathy Woods yoga and horsemanship is… rather than a riding lesson, a communication lesson of your body and mind to your horse’s body and mind. We all know or should know, that you cannot control your horse until you can control your own body mind, and spirit…the horse knows if you are fearful, tense, upset, etc. and we must learn to master our own body, mind, and spirit to reassure the horse, an animal of prey, that all is well. And physically to control our bodies to direct the horse in movements and directions we want him to take. This type of, “lesson” is valuable to riders of all levels and disciplines, everyone is capable of participating, and, by the way, it is FUN. Come enjoy!”

I love Cathy’s calmness and measured approach – it has really made me slow down and I’m learning to be more fully present in the ‘now’ whenever I’m with my horse. My relationship with my horse has improved, and there has been a flow-on effect with other animals such as our sheep and surprisingly even our goose.

“As a yoga and meditation practitioner and teacher for over thirty years, I am delighted to tell you about Cathy Woods. Not only does Cathy bring decades of knowledge, skill, enthusiasm, and experience to her instruction, she opens her students to so much more — the heart of yoga. Yoga can be experienced on many levels. Basic techniques that improve health and well-being also contain the seeds for the most sublime and profound awakenings. Cathy possesses the rare ability to teach on all levels within groups of varied individuals. Whatever one’s ability, Cathy’s students feel at home with her comfortable and inspired instruction. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to study with yoga masters such as Swami Satchidananda, Yogi Bajan, Amrit Desai, Guru Mai, and many others. For any yoga master, yoga is no longer practice but is a way of life. Cathy has integrated yoga into her own life and because of that, the heart of yoga shines through in her classes. In the many years I have known Cathy, I have seen her love of yoga not only uplift lives, but transform the greater community around her. I heartily recommend taking a yoga journey with Cathy Woods.”

“The ‘Cathy Woods Find Your Inner Cowgirl Through Body, Mind, Equine Retreat’ at the C Lazy U exceeded my wildest hopes. C Lazy U is a beautiful, guest-oriented ranch. My guest cabin was lovely. The indoor space where we met for the yoga retreat was perfect (it had a high ceiling, glass doors opening onto the ranch on one side, and a fire burning in the fireplace at the front of the room). We worked with and rode horses in the indoor and outdoor arenas as well as on the trail. The horse I was matched with was perfect for me. Cathy led meditations and weaved yoga practice with presentations about the spirit of the cowgirl.

I had read Cathy’s book Yoga for Riders and watched her videos on WeHorse.com and taught my horse to meditate based on watching though I wasn’t brave enough to try yoga postures on my own. At the retreat, we not only did yoga on the mats; we did yoga on horseback. When we did yoga on the horses, the horses all chilled out. It was awesome! I came home and was able to do yoga postures on my own horse and will add yoga postures to my regular program for my horse. I hope to attend this retreat or one of Cathy’s other retreats next year. “
